A Small Content Streamer in 2022

I sit here, in the ruins of a first failed stream of 2022, wondering is it worth it. Let’s face it, 2021 wasn’t great, 2020 was not much better, but that’s what lead to the boom in streaming right? In my little corner of Northern Ireland, in the middle of nowhere, like many, I felt the buzz to start streaming. Why though? I already have my hands full with being a full-time student studying Law, a father to four crazy children and working, would I even have time to stream?
I was always told you should never answer a question with a question but here I go anyway. Do streamers give back enough? Currently, I would say no. Though in the world of parasocial relationships perhaps viewers expect too much. As a new twitch streamer, it could be argued that the 1 per cent dominate the platform. Just look for instance at the latest Pokimane/JiDion/Ninja drama as all the top streamers have utilised it for content. We could logically come to expect all content creators to behave the same way. I believe we should work together to do better in our communities. That’s why going forward, I am going to commit to charity streams and run giveaways along the way to help my viewers. Of course, my dreams of world domination are not going to fulfil themselves, are they?
This is already getting very wordy, and if you’ve stuck around to this point, that’s awesome! I’ll cut to the chase and give an overview of what I’m currently working on and what comes next.
Currently working on:
Branding - logo, overlays and transitions.
Audio setup - Currently working on perfecting and testing my audio configuration to get to that point where I’m happy.
Website - Currently only the winner's page, so as to be more transparent as to Who the winner is, and what they won. In the few giveaways I’ve already run, people have got quite hostile at not winning. Hopefully, this improves Clarity and mitigates some of the said hostility by creating a place where they can check at any time who the winner was.
Discord - The world of online interaction is a lonely place. I want to fix that and the first step is getting my discord off the ground. A place full of mental health tips, find someone to game with, etc.
What comes next:
Video setup - we switch the camera on, this comes second to making sure my audio works as intended first.
Website - Visual overhaul.
Stream schedule - a set in stone stream schedule is on this list as well as I adapt to find which slot works best for you guys and me.
Expand into other platforms - YouTube, TikTok, etc.
New website tabs - Game reviews, competition insight’s, about page, etc.
After that, we work on what‘s needed, as it is needed.
